• Went over the school mission statement.
• Budget Update
• Budget Update.
• Training on Community Council Elections and Responsibilities
  We went over the following items:
• The council will consist of parent or guardian members and school employee members.
• For schools other than high schools, the council will have four parent or guardian members and two school employee members, including the principal.
• Elections for parent or guardian members shall be held near the beginning of the school year or in the spring and completed before the last week of school.
• If an election is held in the spring, a parent or guardian of a student who will be attending the school the following school year may vote in and run as a candidate in the election.
• If the number of candidates for parent or guardian positions is less than or equal to the number of open positions, an election is not required.
• If an election is not held and a parent or guardian position remains unfilled, the other parent or guardian members of the council shall appoint a parent or guardian who meets the qualifications to fill the position.
• We also discussed the roles and responsibilities of the Chair and Vice-Char
• Nominations Oct. 5
• Publicize Candidate Oct. 9-16
• Elections of Candidates Oct. 17
• Candidates take offices Oct. 19

• Next Steps
• We would like to get more parents involved in community council, Principal Holmgren will be sending out invitations via the school email. Council members will speak with neighbors that might be interested in joining.
